"Love stories have a fair share of joys and sorrows. That's what makes them eventful. Happiness is felt more deeply in the face of unhappiness"- this quote touched my heart. Yes, it is from this novel- 'Will you still love me?' What thought do you get when you dwell on seeing the title of this novel? It gives us an idea that something tragic might have happened in the story and that's the reason why, the word "still" has been used. Isn't it? To find out what the tragedy is, you should read this novel. It's interesting! Yes it is! And heartbreaking too.😐
This novel, actually give me an example, if not a complete answer to a question, which I would always think about. And the question was this- what if things don't work the way we want them to work? And this novel was something related to my question. That is what I felt. Now, if you have loved someone in your life, just ask yourself one question- will you forgive that person if she or he does something very wrong to you, something which leaves you shattered in pieces? It may be unintentional. But, will you forgive that person, because you love that person? Most of all, will you "still" love that person after what he or she has done to you? It's thought provoking, right? This is exactly what happens in this novel.
It deals with a social issue, which was why I liked this novel too much. It gives us an insight, of being responsible and demonstrates a powerful example of how world would be a better place to live in, if we would take charge of the things which we can control. The girl Lavanya, is a North Indian, beautiful, attractive and the boy Rajveer, is also handsome. But, his one mistake lands him in a trouble. That trouble turns into major thing which is irrepairable- and that is the most heart wrenching part of the story.
They meet in a flight and their trolley bags get exchanged as both of them had exactly the same kind of trolleys and only the things inside were different. A lot of events take place after this and gradually they fall in love with each other. Lavanya was an ambitious girl. She always wanted to work for a social cause. She starts teaching the slum children, simultaneously following her daily routine. Rajveer's family doesn't agree for their marriage. Lavanya was a responsible citizen and would always remind Rajveer to follow the traffic rules. But, he would never listen to her. He would pay bribes to one of the police constable and the constable would let him go. That constable happened to be the father of one of the children who Lavanya would teach.
Lavanya would warn Rajveer constantly, about traffic rules but, he would be least bothered. She once told the police constable and Rajveer, that they would pay for it one day and eventually they did pay for it. It came at a heavy price. None of them had ever imagined that such a thing would happen and the innocent ones would have to suffer just because of the carelessness of someone else. It was drizzling heavily. The road ahead wasn't clearly visible to Rajveer, who was driving the car. He was messaging Lavanya while driving and at that instant too, Lavanya told him not to use the mobile while driving. And boom! Something happened. He banged into two people walking on the road. He wished that he could correct it, he wished he was more responsible; so that, the present events wouldn't unfold in such a way. The present was totally different from the past- unchangeable. He had killed an innocent child who happened to be the constable's daughter whom Lavanya would teach. Lavanya had to lose her leg just because of the carelessness of her lover. Can you imagine it? Your own love, unintentionally, has done something wrong to you which you cannot fix, no matter how hard you try?
How many of us follow the traffic rules properly? How many of us are concerned to tell our family members to wear a helmet every time they go out on the bike? How many of us tell others not to use the mobile while riding or driving? How many of us advise them not to overtake? Don't you think you need to think about it? Your carelessness can put someone else in trouble. Why should innocent souls suffer because of your inappropriate act? Have you ever wondered about it? How would you feel if someone else did something wrong to your family member or to you? You need to give it a thought. Act wisely and be responsible....
In the end when Lavanya realises this, Rajveer asks Lavanya, "Will you still love me?" and she says "yes"........
